Serving Riverview and Nearby

Morningstar Electric LLC is a family-owned residential electrician run by Ken and Tammy Morningstar. Riverview is just down the road from our home base in Lithia. Licensed electrical contractor, License EC13005732.

  • We work from older homes along the Alafia River to newer communities around Boyette Road.

  • We also work in Panther Trace and Summerfield.

  • Fast-growing neighborhoods need EV chargers, added circuits for home offices, and generator hookups.

  • Panel upgrades, whole-home surge protectors and EV chargers.

  • A fix for a breaker that keeps tripping. We treat your home like our own.

Emergency and Utility Contacts

  • Emergency: 911

  • Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (non-emergency, 24/7): (813) 247-8200.

  • Riverview is unincorporated, so the Sheriff's Office handles law enforcement here.

  • Electric (TECO / Tampa Electric), outages and downed lines: (877) 588-1010.

  • For a downed or damaged line, call 911 first, then TECO.

  • Water and sewer (Hillsborough County Water Resources): (813) 307-1000.

  • Water Resources also takes after-hours and weekend emergencies.

  • Hurricane alerts: sign up for HCFL Alert, Hillsborough County's official notification system.

  • HCFL Alert sends hurricane, flood, severe weather and road closure alerts by phone, text or email.

  • Help with HCFL Alert signup: (813) 272-6602.

  • For 2026, the county pushed Zone A farther inland along the Alafia River.

  • Check your address on the county's Hurricane Evacuation Assessment Tool (HEAT), even if you checked last year.

  • Check the county's Stay Safe page during a storm.

Trash, Recycling and Yard Waste

  • Riverview homes are served by Hillsborough County Solid Waste.

  • Collection days vary by street, so we will not guess yours.

  • Use the county's "Find My Trash & Recycling Schedule" lookup and enter your address.

  • It shows your trash, recycling and yard waste days.

  • Set carts and yard waste out no earlier than 6 PM the night before.

  • Have them out no later than 6 AM on collection day.

  • Yard waste limit: 2 cubic yards a week (about twelve 30-gallon bags or cans).

  • The limit goes up to 3 cubic yards in February, March and April.

  • Keep each container under 50 pounds.

  • Cut limbs to less than 4 feet long and 6 inches across.

  • Questions: Hillsborough County Solid Waste at (813) 272-5680.

Storm and Electrical Safety Tips

  • Re-check your evacuation zone: zone maps changed for 2026, especially near the Alafia River.

  • Look up your address on HEAT before a storm is in the Gulf.

  • After flooding, keep it off if water reached outlets, your panel, AC equipment or appliances.

  • Have an electrician inspect before turning the power back on.

  • Use generators safely: run portable generators outside, far from doors, windows and the garage.

  • Never plug a generator into a wall outlet.

  • A properly installed transfer switch or interlock keeps you and line workers safe.

  • Protect against summer lightning: our afternoon storms bring a lot of lightning.

  • A whole-home surge protector at the panel helps guard your electronics.

  • Add point-of-use protectors for TVs and computers.

  • Size circuits for new loads: EV chargers, hot tubs and added AC units need properly sized circuits.

  • Have your panel capacity checked before you add a big load.

  • Stay clear of downed lines. Treat every downed line as live.
