Serving Plant City and East Hillsborough

Morningstar Electric LLC is a family-owned residential electrician run by Ken and Tammy Morningstar. In the Winter Strawberry Capital, a lot of homes sit next to barns, pump houses and workshops that need safe, reliable power too. Licensed electrical contractor, License EC13005732.

  • We work from historic homes near downtown to Walden Lake and newer subdivisions.

  • We also serve farms and country properties around Dover and the rest of east Hillsborough County.

  • Panel upgrades, whole-home surge protectors, generator hookups, and wiring for a shop or outbuilding.

  • A fix for a breaker that keeps tripping. We treat your home like our own.

Trash, Recycling and Yard Waste

  • Who picks up your trash depends on whether you live inside the city limits.

Inside the City of Plant City

  • The city's Solid Waste Division handles collection, and charges show up on your city utility bill.

  • Yard waste pickup is on Wednesdays.

  • Bag leaves and clippings in containers under 40 pounds.

  • Tie branches in bundles no more than 5 inches across and 5 feet long.

  • Set everything out by 6 AM on pickup day.

  • Recycling is a voluntary blue bin program with curbside pickup once a week.

Outside the City Limits

  • Hillsborough County Solid Waste serves you.

  • Use the county's "Find My Trash & Recycling Schedule" lookup to see your trash, recycling and yard waste days.

  • Or call (813) 272-5680.

Storm and Electrical Safety Tips

  • Look after outbuildings: barns, pump houses and workshops often end up with old wiring.

  • Extension cords there often became permanent. Have them checked.

  • Use GFCI protection where there is water or damp ground.

  • Plan for your well pump: on a private well, a power outage also means no water.

  • A properly sized generator with a transfer switch or interlock can keep the pump and essentials running.

  • Use generators safely: run portable generators outside, far from doors, windows and the garage.

  • Never plug one into a wall outlet.

  • Protect against summer lightning: our afternoon storms bring a lot of lightning.

  • A whole-home surge protector at the panel helps guard your electronics.

  • Add point-of-use protectors for TVs and computers.

  • Give older homes a checkup: they can have aging panels, ungrounded outlets and outdated wiring.

  • A safety inspection can catch problems early.

  • Call 811 before you dig, for fence posts or trenching a new circuit.

  • Call 811 or use Sunshine 811 first so buried lines get marked.

  • Stay clear of downed lines. Treat every downed line as live.
